Your barbecue is well-maintained for winter!
Discover our tips and tricks for keeping your barbecue clean and dry during the winter season.
Whether made of brick, reconstituted stone, or steel, wood-fired barbecues require year-round maintenance. So, when the cold season arrives, marking the end of grilling, several steps are necessary to ensure your barbecue is in top condition once the snow melts. Follow our specialists' advice for successful winterization!
1- Thoroughly clean your wood and charcoal barbecue
Throughout the year, grease and ash accumulate in your barbecue. Of course, you've removed the ashes after each grilling session, but a thorough winter cleaning is often necessary!
Cleaning the barbecue
While your wood and charcoal barbecue is still warm,
– remove the grid;
– empty it of all remaining wood, charcoal and ashes;
– using a brush, wash the sides of the barbecue with soapy water.
Cleaning the grill and accessories
– Take advantage of a final cooking to eliminate fats and any remaining food residue;
– soak the still-warm grill and accessories in a tub of warm water mixed with dish soap;
– scrub them with a special brush.
– dry everything and store the grill and accessories in a cloth, inside a cupboard for example until warmer weather arrives.
Feel free to repeat this process several times throughout the rest of the year.
2- Thoroughly clean your portable steel barbecue
The portable steel barbecue is very convenient for moving around the garden as you please. When winter arrives, it is recommended to clean it thoroughly for proper winter storage and to keep it in good condition.
The Week-End steel barbecue with a rotating grill is designed for easy cleaning all year round. The fire acts as a pyrolytic cleaner; simply place the grill upright and clean it with a barbecue brush.
When winter comes, it is possible to remove the grille by unscrewing it.
Cleaning the barbecue
– Remove the grille by unscrewing it;
– empty the barbecue of all leftover wood, charcoal and ashes;
– using a non-abrasive brush so as not to damage the walls, wash the walls of the barbecue with soapy water;
– turn the barbecue upside down to let it dry;
– as soon as the clean grid is screwed back on, cover it with a tarpaulin and store it in a dry place, at the back of your garage or in your laundry room for example.
Cleaning the grill and accessories
– Unscrew and soak the still warm grill and accessories in a tub of warm water mixed with dish soap;
– scrub them with a special brush;
– dry everything and screw the grille back on;
– Keep the accessories inside, dry, wrapped in a cloth.
