Tips and advice for cooking in a wood-fired oven

Preheating the oven: Heat your wood-fired oven to 250°C for 45 minutes. Scrape the hearth to remove excess ash.

Baking: Place the bread in the oven, pour a little water onto the oven floor to create steam, and bake for 25 to 30 minutes. The steam will give it a crispy crust.

2. Walnut and honey bread

A delicious bread, ideal to accompany cheese or for a healthy breakfast.

Ingredients :
  • 500g of wholemeal flour
  • 350 ml of lukewarm water
  • 1 sachet of dried baker's yeast
  • 10 g of salt
  • 100g of crushed walnuts
  • 2 tablespoons of honey
Preparing this homemade bread recipe:
  1. Mix the yeast with the lukewarm water and honey, then let it rest for 10 minutes.
  2. In a bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the water-honey-yeast mixture, then knead until you obtain a smooth dough.
  3. Incorporate the crushed nuts and knead for a few more minutes.
  4. Let it rise for 1 hour 30 minutes in a warm place.

Heat control: For a well-baked loaf, ensure the oven floor reaches a temperature of approximately 220°C. If the bread is browning too quickly, slightly open the door to lower the heat.

Quick tip: Turn the bread over halfway through baking for even cooking.

3. Rye bread with seeds

  • 200 g of wheat flour
  • 350 ml of lukewarm water
  • 1 sachet of dried baker's yeast
  • 10 g of salt
